This project's objective is to promote safe school environments and organizations free from sexual violence in rural educational settings in Colombia. This through the implementation of a comprehensive program of workshops focusing on sexuality education, sexual abuse prevention, and capacity building with partner schools and organizations in rural areas of Colombia.
Rural areas are characterized by concrete barriers: greater difficulty in accessing health, justice, and education services, greater impunity, and less coverage of sex education, leading to poorer sexual and reproductive health outcomes. National studies and analyses show that teenage pregnancies in Colombia have historically been high (with figures remaining at worrying levels in recent years in certain departments and vulnerable population groups) and that factors such as low school attendance, violence, and internal displacement due to the armed conflict increase the risk of teenage pregnancy—a problem that is more acute in rural areas and in the context of internal displacement.
Specific objectives:
Conduct workshops with children and young people at rural schools, reaching between 200-350 students and 15-30 teachers.
Produce and distribute accessible and culturally relevant teaching materials (guides, videos, podcasts, games).
Evaluate the impact of the project and generate experiences that can be used to further develop the project in other contexts.
This project runs from January to September 2026.
