We were selected from more than 5,000 abstracts to present our work during a poster session, which we of course are very proud of.

Our new M&E strategy that we have been implementing this year makes it easier to measure and show the impact with the communities. We presented the following results at part of the poster:

ree

Primary school:

  • 89% of students know how to take care of their bodies

  • 90% of students recognize their rights and responsibilities

  • 86% of students can differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable situations

Secondary school

  • 89% of students understand consent (6th to 8th grade)

  • 65% of students have a high level of knowledge about sexual and reproductive health and rights education (6th to 8th grade)

  • 74% have positive attitudes toward sexual and reproductive health and rights education (9th to 11th grade)

ree

Families:

  • 91% find the information useful

  • 93% find it easy to apply

Our experience shows that when S&RHR education is taught comprehensively, it promotes safer and more respectful environments. It encourages bodily autonomy, dialogue between families and schools, and contributes to the prevention of violence. Its sustained implementation is key to transforming educational and social dynamics towards equity and the well-being of children and young people.

Additionally, these are some of our takeaways from participating at ICFP:

  • We have a good collaboration with our partner schools and the continuous work with the community shows good results.

  • Our programs are comprehensive and include the ecosystem surrounding the students – teacher and families.

  • The legal framework in both Colombia and Mexico has been important for the success of the programs – The fact that it is mandatory to implement sexual and reproductive health and rights education is an important argument for the schools.

  • We made connections with other organizations that could potentially become alliances moving forward.

We believe that our participation in this kind of events is valuable, as it gives us the opportunity to share our own experience while learning from the experiences of others. This exchange of knowledge inspires us to develop new strategies and continuously strengthen our programs and actions.
