Why support S&RHR education?
S&RHR is officially part of the national curriculum both in Colombia and Mexico, however, its implementation in many classrooms is sometimes incomplete and often lacks an inclusive, rights-based approach, especially for adolescents in vulnerable contexts and those living in rural areas.
 
This has serious consequences:
Colombia: 1 of every 5 girl becomes pregnant between ages 15 - 19.
Mexico: 17 out of every 100 births come from teenage girls.
Colombia: 12% of young women have experienced intimate partner violence.
Mexico: 20.7% of women aged 20-24 years were married or in a union before age 18.
