During August and September, two representatives from Mi Cuerpo/Min Krop in Mexico and Colombia will visit Denmark to give lectures and workshops in high schools around Denmark. The visit will give 3rd year Spanish students a unique insight into Colombia and Mexico and the situation of sex education and gender equality in both countries. In addition, the students will have the opportunity to participate in a sex education workshop, where they will work in Spanish on the issues of consent and gender, which are relevant to young people in Denmark, Mexico and Colombia.
Leonor Elizondo Chavero and Shanon Joerns, from Mexico and Colombia respectively, are currently facilitating sex education in local schools in disadvantaged areas of Cali and Popayán in Colombia and Querétaro in Mexico. They provide workshops focusing on a wide range of topics related to sexuality, giving young people the opportunity to ask questions and debunk common myths. Mexico and Colombia are countries where there is a high rate of teenage pregnancies as well as major challenges in terms of gender equality. With a focus on the body, contraception, consent, boundaries, pleasure, social media, gender, sexual diversity, STIs and more, young people are equipped to live an informed sex life.
